Customer Reviews

XTM Racing Rail, a terribly capable and fun weekend buggy but not for serious racing. Some style flaws and choices also leave the Rail at a disadvantage compared to alternative RC vehicles, a lot of on this below however initial:

XTM Racing, aka Nice Vigor (GV) beneath the Global Services company name markets the Rail in each gas and electrical version in the U.S. and International Markets. From what I scan, the Rail or "Cage" as it is called in different countries is additional widely accepted outside the U.S. This automotive and replacement elements are widely accessible on the web. Problems in the U.S. market seem tied to the selling and outright weaknesses of a number of the planning so let's get to it.

The Rail comes prepared to run however you continue to would like your own common RC battery packs and AA batteries. The Rail has two 4mm gold plated male connectors to transfer power where it's needed. An spectacular list of stock elements seem to be all "A" list ingredients including:

120amp electronic speed control, totally programmable and comes with a programming card besides. 2370kv Brushless motor with heat sink and a pair of cooling fans, masses of power!

Full aluminum chassis and shock towers, durable!

Threaded aluminum shocks.

Very nice customizable transmitter you'll be able to use for different models too.

Currently for the shortcomings:

The tires XTM touts as nice all-terrain tires are terrible for something however pavement.

Front suspension pieces are simply not sturdy enough to handle even moderate abuse/jumping.

The plastic connectors for the aluminum roll cage are too simply broken.

I'll tell you ways to overcome those problems later however initial the driving:

I use two totally different batteries: a 3 cell SMC lighting volt 8000mAh or 2, a pair of cell generic 5500mAh in series. Either approach the rail may be a blast to drive. Masses fast and maneuverable, jumps are balanced and power is predictable. Breaking is good and largely straight. I even have however to break anything serious in half to modifications however I do not drive into cement barriers either.

Improvements:

Rims and tires; Proline makes some nice rims and also the Proline Knuckles work nice shredding everything as well as giant gravel under them. (Caution: don't stand behind the rail in gravel and provide it full throttle unless you actually like choosing scabs off your shins for a week)

The front finish; I replaced the stock front finish with items from the XTM Xt2e. Vastly more sturdy! Conjointly something that weighs 8.5lbs dry desires bumpers, try T-bone, I even have a group and they help protect up front.

Roll cage connectors; I actually have a pair of broken however it's still secure. XTM sells aluminum connectors however $$$ is making me wait.

Overall it's a smart buggy and very much fun to drive. I would suggest this as an intermediate buggy and experience with Lipo batteries and a pre-requisite.

A cautionary note to folks and gift purchasers. This vehicle weighs enough and moves quick enough to cause SERIOUS harm to pets, property, and individuals. Please exercise applicable supervision. Lipo batteries have enough power to cause serious burns and worse, read and understand all cautionary statements, to not be taken gently!

CAUTION! New update: I recently had a rather delicate roll-over with the rail resulting in the battery box snapping loose and rotating toward the driveshaft, pushing the battery wires up against the spinning shafts. I'm lucky solely a negative wire appeared broken however the electronic speed control got fried ($100). Taking it apart to place in a very new box it's plain to determine why this happened, fully nothing holding down the left aspect of the box, just the center and right creating it suceptable to being snapped off when rotating to the proper. Adding to the weakness is that the mounting screws undergo the bottom (aluminum) and into the pkastic box rather than a stronger (however additional expensive) through the battery box and into the aluminum. Something else bothering me, I wrote a "not so great" review for the Hobby Folks (rail manufacturer/marketer) web site and when a month they need'nt posted it.

WELL THIS IS A GREAT BUGGY IT TOPS SPEED OF OVER 70 MPH ON A 6 CELL 30C 14.8 VOLT LIPO BATTERY AND THIS IS ONE HARD BUGGY IT HAS AN GREAT ROLE CAGE FOR PEOPLE WHO LIKE TO THROUGH IT AROUND A LOT AND IT ALSO HAS
